The volume offers a new perspective on the use of Social Network Sites (SNSs) for foreign language learning and, at the same time, introduces an evaluation framework grounded on a rigorous methodology that takes into account both judgmental and empirical methods. The current work suggests an innovative use of a SNS, namely Facebook, for beginners with no prior knowledge of the target language. The approach presented here shows how to exploit SNSs to develop students' participation, motivation, language skills and cultural awareness, thus speeding up their learning process.
